I am open to general proofreading jobs, though I mainly serve as a transcript proofreader for court reporters in America.
As a fresh pair of eyes, I can find errors that may easily get lost in all of the transcription writing and scoping that comes beforehand. When the final transcript gets sent back to your clients they are sure to be pleased with the result. From finding missing punctuation to transposed words, I will help to make your transcript as clean a version as possible for your clients.
After several years of writing, editing, and proofreading experience, my love of words has only grown. I look up any terms that I may not be familiar with, especially in expert or medical transcripts where terminology may be specific to the profession.
I mainly refer to the Gregg Reference Manual and Merriam-Webster Dictionary, though I was also trained using Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, Court Reporting: Bad Grammar, Good Punctuation, and the NCRA Guidelines for transcript proofreading. For general proofreading, I rely on The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
I return all annotated work in a PDF document for court reporters and a Word document for authors, but an errata sheet can be produced if requested.
